I was attracted to this lamp for use in my office because of the polarized light feature. Though the polarizing feature appears to work as advertised, the lamp still puts off the same hospital-room blue-white glow common to led lamps. If you are fine with that kind of light, then you may not have a problem with this lamp. Otherwise, it is the type of excellent product, you would expect from 3m. The lamp base and housing are well designed, sturdy, and stylish. The on-off and dimming controls are well laid-out and ergonomic, except that you cannot use an external switch (e. , timer or motion sensor), because the lamp will default to “off” whenever power is removed. I kept the lamp to use in my workshop at home, because it works better for lighting a specific project than for all-day desk use as in an office environment.
It has different degrees of brightness, is compact; attractive and doesn’t take up a lot of space on my desk. I’m planning on purchasing another one for my sewing room.
I have used this light both to provide extra illumination for a kitchen workspace and for reading in an otherwise poorly lit area. It is small and light enough to move from place to place easily.
I’ve newly taken up sewing and have turned a corner of our downstairs family room into my workshop. There is a small window, but light is a little low. This lamp is perfect and provides terrific lighting for the sewing space. However, i could see it being useful in lots of places, including the office and the bedside table. In fact, my husband has already threatened to take it to work while i’m not looking. Love this lamp and the touch sensor and the dim control.

The 3m tl1200-b is remarkably easy to set up, and very simple to configure for desktop use. The base gives the configurable arm a solid and safe basis for the set up of the upper right arm, and the extending led light. The on switch located on the base works very much like a classic ipod touch device. Once turned on, you have 5° of brightness, and this also works very much like the ipod classic: also, the amount of touch is just as light. The arm extending from the base can move forwards and backwards to a limited degree, but it is enough to give it an extensive range of motion. The led light source can go up a proportion so that the light can be visible on most work areas. This samelight arm can go down up to 60° to diffuse the polarized light when your work circumstances might require less direct light, or if you need a little bit of light to take notes but not enough to be distracting if you are editing, for example, pictures or video on the standard flatscreen. In that respect, whether you have it shining directly on your video screen or indirectly diffused, the polarized light will not show on computer monitors, but adds a sufficient amount for whatever needs you have. The other direction you can turn things are left and right with the light armature, and this can be 90° to the left or 90° to the right. If you have been a fan of the ott-lite globe and armature, you will find that this is directly comparable, and with a desktop ott-lite the light is about the same, but the ott-lite is very intense, whereas the 3m polarized light is much more subdued, but it provides quite as much light.
My husband loves this light. . He works on the computer from home and loves that there is no glare. . He did say that sometimes depending on the position of something, it will cast several shadows which took some time to get used to. It’s a bit expensive – especially once you see the item in person, but it is definitely sleek and takes up minimal desk space. Honestly, it’s a great lamp, although i don’t know if i would spend the money on it. If you can find a good deal, it may be worth it.
This 3m task lamp comes in a shiny black and i mention this first because it’s my least favorite aspect of the lamp. The overall design is great. While the neck isn’t flexible the head and base pivot so that you can get the light where it needs to go. The light surface itself is flat and wide, so that the overall look is modern and sexy. But i’m just not a fan of shiny. This distaste probably comes from having kids and the fact that no shiny surface remains free of fingerprints for very long. So if the surface was matte, i would be entirely happy. But seriously, what i found out about the light that this lamp puts out surprised me. I have found that i have less eye strain.
This light has been very useful on my desk. I like the matted kind of diffuser in front of the lights so they feel softer on my eyes. The reduction of glare on white paper is significant. I like its stability, so that even if i put it on the top of my rolltop desk, it is still stable. It is very spare and elegant. That is really important when it is sitting on my desk, because it is something i see all day long. If it bothers me in any way, it has to go. I generally keep this light on its highest setting. I have never been a fan of dim lights. If there is a dimmer on a switch, i turn it all the way up. I may have several lights on in my office during daytime hours. While i was trying to understand why i have so many lights on, i realized it is because i am looking at things at different angles and different levels on my desk. I may have printed materials below and above my laptop. I like the way this light adds to the light on my desk without adding the brightness that makes my eyes tired after a long day working at my computer.
This light is the ticket when you want nice, stylish, bright light for your work, that doesn’t just scream “bug light” like some led lamps tend to do. The lamp is attractively designed and is adjustable at two points. The bottom hinge where it connects to the base and then at the top, where the lamp head connects to the long vertical arm. I also like the way the electric plug fits in. I have another, similar (admittedly, less expensive) lamp that has the power cord coming in in such a way that it often falls out (or is bumped out) of the socket. The cord then falls behind the piano and i’m scrambling to fish it out and reconnect it. This lamp has the connection cord using sort of an l-shaped end that is extremely unlikely to be disconnected. The little touch pad that turns the light on and off does stay dimly lit, even when the light is off. If you have this on your bedside table, consider whether or not this will bother you.
I’ve been using various led desk lights for years. Led’s are great on the desktop because they don’t emit heat like halogens/incandescents and they don’t flicker. However, led desk lights generally aren’t as powerfully bright. My thoughts on this 3m lamp:-nice glossy modern finish with faux-metal accents. The entire lamp is made of plastic which is of good quality. -the brightness is roughly equivalent to the other led lamps i have used in the past (softech smart led desk lamp and koncept z-bar led desk lamp). The lumen output is about the same as a 40-watt incandescent which is enough for typical desktop use. If you have a large desk or are doing highly-detailed work, you will want additional lumens. -the color temp is a typical led cool-white which is my preference for all areas of the house. -the controls are very easy to use and placed conveniently forward on the base for easy access. The dimming buttons are intuitive and well-done. These controls are the best of the led lamps i have used. -adjusting the lamp is easy to do. -the main negative is the 16-inch height.
This is a very good quality lamp. Polarized led light is glare free and touch controls with 5 levels of light is nice. The product lives up to the quality and cost of 3m products. But i got a similar led lamp without polarized light at ⅕ the cost of this lamp ledwholesalers 3-level dimmable touch switch folding led desk lamp 7 watt, pure white 2403wh . This lamp has 3 levels of light which is enough for most people and the touch controls are easier to use: you do not even have to look at the controls. Although 3m polarizing light led is a very good quality lamp, unless you need 5 levels of polarized light, it is not worth the cost, which is probably applicable to most people.
I don’t know how 3m cuts the glare, but like magic, this light produces very little of it. There are a number of intensities the light can be set to (five to be precise). For some nice background lighting while working with a non-lighted laptop keyboard—it is perfect at its lowest setting. The light-angle adjustments work beautifully making it easy to send the light where desired. We were happy with amazon’s pricing and they had it here in a couple of days under the prime program. This light is perfect for us. I hope you find my review useful.
For many years, my desk had a bright halogen lamp sitting on it. The lamp is hot, but extremely bright and made it easy to read. I recently replaced it with a competing led lamp which did a nice job, but wasn’t quite perfect. When i got this 3m polarizing led desk lamp, i knew i had found my perfect desk lamp solution. First, the lamp itself has a nice stable based so it certainly won’t tip over. The lamp is an array of white led’s that sit behind the polarizing filter. A simple lighted “touch control” turns on the lamp, and there is a 5-level touch control for brightness as well. The lamp has a simple wall-wart style power supply you plug in for power. The biggest improvement over competing led desk lamps is in the color rendition (not too blue, the perfect color for reading) and the polarized light which reduces glare, especially when you are reading glossy items like magazines. It might have been nice if the lamp head itself could tilt to the side, but i found the simple 2-hinge adjustment seemed sufficient for lighting my work area without too much glare on the screen.
I use this lamp on my computer desk, which otherwise is a really dark space. It throws a broad, cool color across my desk or back wall. Its very good for work purposes. Its not so attractive as a general light because of its blue cast. However for paperwork and computer work its quite good. The power button is a pinwheel shape touch sensor that is easy to whip on quickly. I typically only use the first two or three. This light is heavy and has a good center of gravity. I would like it if the neck pivoted; since the base is big and rectangular, it has to pretty much stay put.
With winter coming on i decided to get myself a desk lamp in order to supplement the anemic overhead light i have in my home office. This lamp has been great for paperwork. It’s easy on the eyes, and has 5 levels of brightness from very dim to impressively bright. The controls are touch, and it remembers its brightness setting the next time you turn it on. As a bonus the power ‘button’ is illuminated with a white led which makes it easy to find the lamp in a dark room. The light is a little on the cool side (which means it’s not yellowish like an incandescent bulb. ) while i don’t like cool lighting for rooms, i do prefer it for reading.
Reasonable price and 3m is fantastic.
It can be a minor awkward not to be capable to tilt the lamp when it truly is at proper angles or be ready to increase or decrease the lamp alongside the upright.
I like that this desk lamp significantly lessens the harsh glare that is widespread in desk lamps. It is also compact and trendy. This lamp has forever changed the desk lamp we acquired for xmas.
I actually needed to adore this desk lamp, but sadly for me it has a couple of flaws. The lamp performs specifically as mentioned no glare, adjustable settings, and is exceptionally stylish. The challenge i have with the lamp, is that it is not dazzling ample. Except if you sit at a desk with a ebook right less than the light, it just is not shiny more than enough for me. The other challenge i have with the lamp is the on/off button. The button is illuminated, and stays on all the time. The first night i utilised the lamp by my mattress, and it was like obtaining a evening light on all night drove me mad. It is a stunning lamp, and if the area is well lit with other lights it high-quality to read through by. If you only want to use this light for reading, i warning eye pressure. If they could only enhance the brightness, i would have multiples.
I can’t think i purchased this overpriced, plastic, unobtrusive, smooth, properly engineered piece of lights perfection. It is pricey for a light, but the form of light that is emitted is amazing. No glare on paper documents, minimized eye tiredness, efficient led – 3m realize human general performance and wise product or service style and delivers in this desk lamp.
Terrific desk lamp and definitely is supporting minimize down on eye strain. The dimmable options are nice to have and easy to function.
Where to start ~~design:::pretty great design and style with numerous adjustment options. Two hinged levers to quickly tilt or extend light course exactly where you want. The ‘touch’ change is unobtrusive and blends in with the exquisite black base. Perform:::the one switch responds with the lightest touch and 5-phase dimmer is easy to find the exact location preferred. I discovered a ‘huge’ variation ideal absent in how the light was dispersed in comparison to my florescent or incandescent bulbs. Glare is lowered to nearly absolutely nothing. A slight blueish solid can make examining, comprehensive operate or composing a enjoyment. It casts usable light on a awesome broad spot. A lot less eye strain on these growing old eyes.
