This works well for me, i am 5’4′ tall and it is perfect at the shortest setting. I sit almost all day long when commuting and at work, so i like forcing myself to stand up when working on my home (ebay) business. It would not be that hard to move the monitor and keyboard to sit back down, but it also is not that easy, which will keep me standing. Sitting is the new smoking you know.
I can’t recommend this product enough. I assembled it in like 10 mins. I left my monitor where it was & just raised the front of it so it’s at an angle. I do photo books for a living and used to spend hours on end sitting in my chair while my butt grew, not to mention developing serious neck issues. Now i’m completely comfortable standing while i work & can even do exercises to keep in shape. It’s nice & steady, with a lot of heft to it & the color matches my california closet desk perfectly. And when i don’t need it it can be stored under my desk.
I wanted to love this product but unfortunately it just did not work for what i need. I travel 10 months out of the year and have a computer based job so i have been searching for a portable standing desk for a long time. I love being able to stand the majority of the day and this desk puts you in the correct posture/position. However, it is much larger and less durable than i expected. I should have looked much closer at the dimensions because it is very large. It took up the whole area of the table i was working on, leaving essentially no room for anything else (pad of paper, drink, etc. More importantly though, i was hoping that it would fit in a large checked bag when folded so that i could bring it with me and it is too large to fit in even my largest suitcase. Again, this is an error on my part when purchasing but ultimately the product did not work for me for this reason. I also found that the construction is lacking the durability i would need to be able to travel with it consistently.

“Good If You are Unsure about Standing Desks and/or Have Low Expectations
, Very nice desk, but why so expensive?
, Great standing desk
I paid $150 for this and now it’s gone up $40, wish i hadn’t made this impulse purchase but i thought it would be good for my health to have a stand-up desk. I rarely use it because it’s uncomfortable to stand for long periods. While it’s a nice piece and well made, it’s very expensive for what you get, wish i had returned it but thought shipping would cost too much.
If you are even remotely considering getting a stand-up desk, definitely try this. This ‘desk topper’ is literally made of cardboard and folds flat. It’s a little bit wide to put in your bag or carry-on, but can easily be carried under your arm sort of like a presentation board. Yes, you could probably try to engineer one yourself, but the oristand is very well-made and i would say its worth $30 to have them make it for you, regardless of your handiness. It folds out almost instantly into a cardboard ‘pair of steps’ where you can place your mouse and keyboard on the lower step and then your laptop (or maybe your monitor depending on the set-up on the higher level. The height is one size fits all. I’m 5’9 and it works very well for me and they generally recommend that you be somewhere between 5 and 6 feet for it to fit you. I also recommend the black color as i previously had a white model which picks up dirt, dust, food stains, etc way too easily. Since your typical stand up desk topper runs >$100 and a stand-up desk typically runs ~$300, this is a great low-risk investment to try it out and potentially a good travel/portable option for use depending on how your working situation is. The one caution i’ll give (it hasn’t bothered me too much) is that you don’t have tremendous space for your mouse on the lower step.
I have always wanted a standing desk because it’s healthy and i’m more productive when i stand. However, i wasn’t going to shell out over $200 for some motorized desk. I’d rather take a short walk and come back to my desk. The oristand was a no-brainer for the price. I put my dell monitor on the top and my mac book air on the keyboard section. It’s held up pretty well so far and i love it.
I had to adjust the screws and the rubber feet a bit to steady the table, but now it is quite stable. The product is a simple product, but it is thoughtfully designed and finished out. I use it for my laptop and there is enough surface space for my laptop and a pad of notebook paper next to the laptop. Really helps to not be sitting all day.
Pretty great overall, but not perfect. You won’t find anything this convenient for the price so i recommend it. 2 things stick out for me that i don’t like about the product 1) if you’re a clumsy person who might bump into this unknowingly, you run the risk of knocking your computer off of it (oristand won’t collapse but the computer can wobble) 2) the dimensions don’t fit me (6′ tall man)- i have to put a box on bothe keyboard section and the monitor section for the product to work in a way that’s actually good for my posture. W/o the additional boxes i use, i’d be looking slightly down all day, which may or may not be worse than just sitting.
Received this and set it up very quickly. I was able to make the front height a bit lower than the back bc of the adjustable legs. There is ample room to fit my 20 inch monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse. I found this to be the most cost efficient and attractive alternative to create a stand up work station with minimal expense. 00 is a bit expensive, however i do like that i can adjust the front legs lower so that my hands are sitting correctly on the keyboard and my eyes are higher on the monitor. Many of the similar items did not offer this. Product shipped quickly and the cherry color matches nicely. I also ordered a mat for my feet for minimal impact when standing. I am hoping this will eliminate the neck and arm pain from sitting so many hours at my desk.
Little expensive for just a cardboard box. Does the job, hard to move around the sides don’t line up correctly.
This item allows me to re-consider retirement in 2 years. I work at home and sit 8-12 hours each day at a desk staring at a computer. I have chronic back issue due to this arrangement. Since purchasing this item, my workday primarily consists of standing as opposed to sitting. My back issues related to work are gone. I would give this item 5 stars if it was not so expensive relative to it as a product. I could easily construct this item from purchases at the local home depot for about $20 versus the $150 i paid for this stand. However, due to the quality of life improvements associated with the improvements to my back, i still consider the $150 as money well spent. I would (and have) recommended this product to others.
I knew it might work, but i was pleasantly surprised by how well it works. I’m about 6’1 and i only have a laptop, so i didn’t need the keyboard tray that most standing desks come with – but i need space for papers, etc. This desk goes high enough for me to work very comfortably and has lots of space for papers and phones and eye glasses, etc. My back felt better instantly. It took me 2 minutes to get it out of the box, put it on my desk, raise it up and put my laptop on it. My one and only issue (which i definitely don’t care about it) is my mouse doesn’t work on this desk surface. I have to dig out a mouse pad. Which i haven’t used in years.
I love that i made this purchase. Just don’t expect it to be something it is not. Has held its shape for the last few months very well and supports my 15′ macbook pro (the old heavy version – 2011), my 9. Not a lot of ‘desk’ space offered by the converter but it has enough to make it well worth the purchase.
This is a great way to make any desk into a standing desk. Paired with a pad to stand on, its great. I don’t collapse it when i want to sit, i just stand it on its side on the floor. That takes up a bit of room, but its manageable. Taking it apart and putting it together every time seems a bit too time consuming. The wood is weighty, so it feels well made. The legs are light weight, so the weight is in the desk top itself. The top is spacious for keyboard and papers. I actually have my monitor on a monitor arm connect to my desk, so i raise that and put my keyboard and mouse on the stand steady. I write, read, lean on the stand steady, with no trouble.
Price is steep for cardboard,. But, it works as described and stores away in seconds. My cats have never lost a bout with cardboard. They walked away from this oristand with there first ever loss.
This standing desk is exactly what i expected. I have been already using my own table over a treadmill to walk while working on my laptop at home, but this is not practical to use at an office outside home. So, i am using this stand on top of my desk at work, and it solves the problem of too much sitting. The stand is sturdy, with a nice finish (i got the cherry color one), and most importantly, it has enough room for my laptop and some papers on the side. I do not use a mouse (only the touch pad), but there is room for a mouse. On the back it has enough room to put a monitor behind my laptop – this makes it possible to work on the laptop’s keyboard, but instead of looking down to the its screen (not good for the neck), to look straight ahead at an eye level – the best configuration. The stand has 5 adjustable heights; i am 5′ 6′ tall, and it apparently can accommodate people significantly taller than me. The stand should be set up more or less permanently on a desk, and if the user wants to sit, he/she can go to another part of the same desk, or to another desk, possibly moving their laptop. So, it is not a stand that can be automatically moved up and down – although such stands exist, they are much more expensive. This one does the job for me and i am happy with it.
I have looked for a standing desk option but everything was priced in the hundreds of dollars price point. But this stand is really great for the inexpensive cost. And it folds up super easy, yet it’s still sturdy when you set it up.
I got my desk this morning and really like it. I had been using a cardboard paper box in the interim to get used to it. 4 stars because i really like the concept and love standing at my desk. Loss of star for the price and a few other minor issues. Pros – i find that i spend a lot of time dancing at my desk now, which is so much more fun. Then there’s the extra calorie burn, which is estimated at up to 200 calories per day if you just stand there, more if you dance around like me. It’s plenty big enough for my 20′ monitor, keyboard, and a mouse with mouse-pad. The desk itself is pretty heavy, and feels reasonably sturdy. Cons – the biggest con is the price. Like other reviewers have said, i’m not sure why this is $140.
Uncertain between the 3 and 4 stars. The converter itself is brilliant, but i wish i could regulate the top tier. I have a monitor and the screen is way too high because the monitor is designed to be a little elevated- lower tier is perfect, but i would have to look up to see the screen. It only works if i use my laptop screen directly in the top tier (because the screen starts right at the top tier level, just like in the picture), and a keyboard in the bottom one. I would not recommend this to anyone shorter than me.
I ordered the original stand steady standing desk for work, so i could stand for awhile at the end of the day when my back starts to hurt from sitting. The desk is very sturdy and the wood finish looks great. I am not able to stand all day yet, but i love that i can put this one top of my desk when i want to stand for a few hours. I have computer monitors that are on a lift arm, but the stand steady desk easily fits my mouse, keyboard, and a notepad. I love that you can adjust the height of the desk as well. I would absolutely recommend this product for anyone looking to try standing at their desk.
If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to try a standing desk, this one’s great. It’s sturdy enough to hold my laptop and a separate keyboard, took about five seconds to set up, and looks decent. The cardboard is stronger than i expected and people have loved trying it out in the office. If you use a laptop, you will want a separate keyboard, though that’s going to be true of all standing desks.
I received this stand very quickly. I’ve only just started using it today and like it so far. Easy to assemble, the color choice goes great with the rest of my office. The surface is large enough for a monitor, keyboard and mouse, a coffee mug, that’s about it. I’ll have to get another gadget to make keyboarding more ergonomic, as my wrists are already getting tired from typing on the stand. Otherwise, it does the job very well.
Absolutely fantastic product, especially when you consider the price. Much more durable and stable than you’d probably think when you hear about a desk made of cardboard. Folds away easily, so it’s particularly useful for people like me who don’t have a lot of space and want to switch back and forth between standing and sitting. I use a laptop on the top shelf and a cheap compact keyboard and mouse on the bottom, which has been a perfect setup. As other reviewers have pointed out, using a large desktop monitor and keyboard might be a different story.
Great standing desk: lightweight and surprisingly sturdy. It’s the perfect size for my 14′ laptop at work. I like to alternate between sitting and standing so this is perfect for setting up / taking down quickly, and compact enough to store away. I’ve been using it for a few months now and still looks and feels like its in great shape. Just a couple areas where i’d suggest a modification: i use a full-size (basic) keyboard on the second step but doesn’t leave much room for my mouse – i usually just shuffle the keyboard over the edge a bit to give myself space for the mouse; also, i’m 5’7′ and find that the platform where the keyboard sits is a bit lower than what i’d prefer and find myself bending my wrist backwards – lent it to my coworker (5’2′) but found the screen was too high – perhaps there is a way to accommodate individuals at varying heights. Overall, i’d recommend this standing desk for anyone who wants the flexibility to stand / sit throughout the work day at a great price.
