Sauder Cottage Road Desk SW – Buillder beware!

It comes in a bzillion pieces though and took about 3-4 hours to put together.

Work to put this together by myself but it’s great. It took some work to put this together by myself but it’s great. Wanted an extra part to make the second drawer a filing cabinet and they sent it to me right away at no cost.

It’s beautiful and i’ve gotten a lot of compliments on it. It did take quite a while to assemble, but it was worth it.

  • Really nice desk. Pretty much as pictured except the color

Super cute desk, great quality, but tedious and time consuming to assemble. Not difficult to assemble, just a ton of parts. Once it together it’s great, just a tad smaller than expected.

Has a solid top and the rest is well built.

Assembly is not for the faint of heart, or for a newcomer to putting together so-called ready-to-assemble furniture. In recognition of this, the manufacturer’s manual even has pithy comments in the margins, like ‘now might be a good time to refresh your drink. ‘as with other similar particle-board based furniture, this contains numerous screw in cam fasteners. The manufacturer instructs that the assembler should not use power tools, like a cordless screwdriver, in assembling. The risk in doing so would be to overtighten, and thereby rip the fastener out of the particle board, which is brittle. (all particle board, used in furniture at least, is brittle and susceptible to fracturing when fasteners are driven into it. That’s one reason why holes are pre-drilled. Anyhow, this particular piece of furniture has so many fasteners, that i would probably have had to spend days on it if i didn’t use a power screwdriver (judiciously, of course, so as not to rip out the fasteners).

The only down side would be the. I bought this desk to use in my getting ready room. The only down side would be the assembly. It took my 3+ hours to put together. I am good at putting things together but i think the number of pieces was a tad excessive.
